The fish harvesting programme was held on the 20 th june2022 at Nadwoothu Tank at Kinniya ,in Trincomalee District with the participation of Hon. Governor of the Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath .

The harvested fish was sold chipper rate for one kg 400 rupees. Fisheries department expects the amount of haversing fish nearly 20,000 Kg from the tank.

The Fisheries Unit of the Eastern Provincial Council introduced Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) cage culture in Pottuvil Arugambay lagoon this year. Through this 1,000 no.of fingerlings were stocked in 2 cages under the PSDG Allocation on 6th of July 2020.

This project will create livelihood to coastal fishing community, linking the farmers with an Export Industry and also increase the tourist’s attraction on the coastal lagoon area
