The first Provincial Planning Committee Meeting of EPC for this year was held at 9.30 a.m. on 27^th April 2018 at the EPC Conference Hall, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee.

The Chief Secretary chaired the meeting with his warm welcome address. He introduced new DCS-Planning Mr.N.Thamilchelvan and extended gratitude to former DCS-Planning, Mr.V.Mahendrarajah for his valuable services in the EPC .

Mr. Kosala Wikramanayaka was appointed as the new chairman for Eastern Province Tourism Authority By the Governor of Eastern province Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama.

Mr. Wikramanayaka is a well known entrepreneur and a businessmen. He is a past pupil of Royal college colombo and obtained his BS Economics & Business Administration degree from Rockford University in USA.

He was a member of Sri Lanka Tourism Board and Director at Air port & aviation services.Presently, he is serving as a member at SAARC Tourism council.

Hon. Governor Rohitha Bogollagama has a vision to develop the tourism industry and take to the next leval as Eastern Province is one of the best tourism destinations in the country with a 465 km of costel belt and a luxurious beach.

On the invitation extended by the Hon Governor of Eastern Province Rohitha Bogollagama, a higher level investor delegation headed by Hon.Raghbir Singh Jaura Former Minister of Punjab State, Indiavisited Trincomalee on 10^th April 2018 in order to study the investment potential of Eastern Province and to facilitate technical collaboration in the fields of crop agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

The visiting delegation paid a courtesy call on Hon. Governor at the Governors Secretariat on 11^th April 2018 and briefed him on the purpose of their visit.

Management Development & Training Unit of the Eastern Provincial Council has organized one-day training for executive officials from provincial agencies and departments of EPC on Role of State Audit in Sri Lanka on 6^th April 2018 at MDTU Auditorium. 

Mr. Sarath Mayadunne, Retired Auditor General has served as the Resource Person for this training.  Around hundred officials of the various provincial departments from Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara Districts have been benefitted from this training programme.
