Department of Sports, Eastern Province officially starts Eastern Provincial Sports Festival - 2020 in Batticaloa to move the next stage of 46^th National Sports Festival - 2020.

The Carrom and Chess for both men and women were the main games in this sports festival. Trincomalee District emerged champions in the men Carrom by beating Ampara District in the finals. Batticaloa District women Carrom team became champions while Trincomalee District was runners-up in women Carrom finals played at Weber Indoor Stadium, Batticaloa on 22^nd February 2020.

Department of Sports, Eastern Province conducted Eastern Provincial Sports Festival - 2018 in Batticaloa to move forward to the next and final stage of 44^th National Sports Festival - 2018. The Basketball, Cricket and Beach Volleyball for both the men and women were the main games in this sports festival.

Batticaloa District emerged champions in both the men and women Basketball game in competition among 3 inter-Districts. They beat Trincomalee District in the finals played at Herbert Stadium, St-Michal   Collage, Batticaloa on 21^st April 2018.
