A National Tree Planting Day was ceremonially held under the patronage of His Excellency the President Ranil Wickramasinghe with the presiding of Hon.Senthil Thondaman, Governor of Eastern Province on 29.05.2023 at 9.00 am at Urban Council Trincomalee. In this occasion, Secretary to the Chief Ministry and Several Heads of Departments of Eastern Provincial Councils were participated.

The Chief Ministry organized a highly successful beach cleaning programme in Trincomalee on 1st June 2023 to commemorate National Environment Day, an annual event celebrated in June. The programme aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote cleanliness in coastal areas.

A tree planting programme was held on 30.05.2023 under the chairmanship of Chief Ministry Senior Assistant Secretary Mrs.V.Raveendran. This was jointly organized with the Trincomalee Town and Gravets Pradeshiya sabha to mark the National Environment Week. At this occasion ten coconut trees were planted at the off shore of Alesgarden beach. Several officials including Assistant Secretary and Director Planning from Chief Ministry and Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, Trincomalee were participated.
